What we do

PortCREW aims at promoting smart and sustainable ecotourism in the MED cruise ports by increasing the touristic value of the less-known inland natural areas and events. This will be possible thanks to a new smart platform jointly developed able to collect and rank eco-touristic destinations. This platform intends to support cruise managers and public authorities in providing more targeted tourist information in the cruise terminals and in defining more sustainable and local-based tourist packages for cruisers.

PortCREW Platform

The PortCREW platform is an innovative digital solution allowing to collect, organize and provide the morning news to the cruisers informing them about the events of the day, the eco-tourism activities, the less-known places to visit and their specific historic, cultural and natural values. The platform intends to support cruise managers, port authorities and local authorities in providing targeted and dynamic touristic information to better tackle over-tourism situations.

PortCREW pilot actions

Valencia

In the Valencia case study, the PortCREW platform will be tested to diversify the tourist offer, reduce congestion, and create tourist packages tailored to new cruiser profiles, including people with disabilities and families. Tourist information will be provided via a new electronic totem at the cruise terminal.

Koper

In the Koper case study, the goal is to inform cruisers about destinations beyond the city center and promote sustainable access. Smart benches will be installed at the cruise terminal to provide eco-tourism information and allow electric bike charging.

Toulon

In the Toulon case study the objective is to promote sustainable cruise tourism, better onshore services, and zero-carbon excursions. Actions include linking with local networks, labeling eco-tours, promoting low-impact transport, and installing info totems and electric charging points.

Ravenna and Emilia-Romagna Region

In the Ravenna case study personalized, geolocated tourist information will be provided to independent cruisers in Ravenna using the PortCREW platform. The aim is to highlight lesser-known eco-friendly destinations and create tailored tour packages using the platform and existing info-totems.

Thessaloniki

In the Thessaloniki case study, the goal is to test PortCREW platform to enhance the Smart City Pass for cruise travellers, offering sustainable experiences across the city. It provides tailored info on eco-tourism practices and promotes seamless digital-physical tourist engagement.
